You accept this Privacy Policy and expressly consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your and others’ personal information as described in this Privacy Policy, when you become a financial member of the Burpengary and District Men’s Shed Inc.

  • current/previous occupation

  • medical declaration
  • member photo

We will obtain your personal information directly from you when you complete your Burpengary and District Men’s Shed Inc. “Application for Membership” or when you provide a personal information update.

  • Disclosing your personal information

The Burpengary and District Men’s Shed will not disclose your personal information to any external third party. However, in the event of an emergency situation your personal information may be provided to emergency services. For example, your personal medical declaration will be provided to the Queensland Ambulance Service if required.

You can refuse to provide personal information.

  • Protecting your personal information

We store information in different ways, including paper and electronic form. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, human error, modification or disclosure including the use of:

  • security for access to our systems including firewalls
  • document storage security requirements
  • access controls for our building.

Due to the nature of electronic communications and the public internet, we cannot guarantee that personal information will be protected against unauthorised access or misuse. We do not accept any liability for breaches due to human error, malicious or inadvertent disclosure, technology flaws or malfunction.

We will retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil our obligations to you, to protect our legal interests, or to comply with Federal or State law.  Once those reasons for retaining your personal information no longer apply, we will take reasonable steps to destroy your personal information or to ensure that your personal information is de-identified.

  • Retention of your personal information

Whilst you are a financial member (including Life Members) of the Burpengary and District Men’s Shed Inc your personal information will be retained. Once you become an unfinancial member for more than two (2) years or are deceased the following personal information will only be retained:

  • membership number
  • full name
  • Initial joining date
  • membership cessation date

We are committed to conducting our business in accordance with these principles in order to ensure that the confidentiality of personal information is protected and maintained.
