Extract from “The Dream” Burpengary and District Men’s Shed..
“In mid-2014 Rodney Hansen member of Wamuran Men’s Shed at the time attended
a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Morayfield where he was approached about why
there was no Men’s Shed in the Burpengary and Morayfield areas.
From these inquiries Rodney approached the local newspaper to run an
advertisement seeking interest from men in the area who were interested in
starting a Men’s Shed. As a result, of this advertisement John Hulme
contacted Rodney and informed him of a group of men (Allan Morgan, John
Beard, Bob McLachlan, Peter Wieden and John Hulme) who met on a regular
basis at a private shed in Peterson Road. Following this discussion Rodney
contacted these gentlemen and arranged a meeting. At this meeting it was
identified these men had a similar dream to start a Men’s Shed.”
Allan officially joined the Burpengary and District Men’s Shed on 24
September 2015 and was shed member #2, and he was awarded Life Membership in
2021.
